IRMA PALE ALE

IPA BEER

IBU 48 OG 1.058 ABV 4.6% SRM 6.7

The hurricane proof beer. We had this magical brew in our tanks when Hurricane Irma visited our island in 2017. After the wind and rain died down we found this hoppy and bitter beer in our tanks. It’s hop-forward, with a clean profile and has a dry finish. You can still taste the power. We named this beer after Irma because we want to mark the time which was a difficult time for our island but also celebrate this special beer it gave us.

SOUALIGA

BLONDE BEER

IBU 24 OG 1.054 ABV 5.0% SRM 7.5

The beer dances on a thin line between bitterness and acidity, filled with undertones of mango and hops. It packs just enough punch to spice up any evening. The ideal companion for every late summer evening while you watch the sun dip below the horizon. The color of the beer reminds us of the beautiful sunsets on our beloved Soualiga or ‘Land of Salt’. It is the name given to our island by the Arawak Indians, who settled in pre-Columbian times. They started using the shallow saltwater ponds to harvest salt crystals.

MAKING GOOD BEER IS EASY.

MAKING PELIKAAN BEER IS ART.

The Science & Art of Brewing Beer

The major ingredients of all beer are water, malted grains, hops, and yeast. Hops are the flowers of the hop plant and are used for flavoring. Different types of hops produce a multitude of different flavors.

With these 4 main ingredients, you have everything you will need to make beer. Each beer has unique combinations that produce subtle and sometimes profound differences In color, clarity, taste, and overall enjoyment.

After the ingredients (water, grains, and hops) are combined, that’s when the magic happens.

Fermentation = C6H12O6 → 2 C2H5OH + 2 CO2

To give you an indication of the character of each of our Pelikaan beers, we have an easy to read chart found below. So choose your beer through the IBU (International Bitterness Units), APC (Alcohol Percentage by Volume), Gravity (Dissolved Solids) and SRM (Standard Reference Measure: The measurement of beer color).

That’s the science part of brewing beer. We don’t just stop there. At Pelikaan, we craft each individual beer with a touch of personality and imagination. Brewing Pelikaan beer is a creative process from beginning to end.

The future of the beer you’re about to enjoy has many paths…CHOOSE WISELY!
